Thiruvananthapuram: Special team spearheaded by Crime Branch district DYSP Sulphikkar has been entrusted to probe the Vanchiyur treasury fraud case. The key accused Bijilal, a senior accountant at the Sub treasury Vanchiyur, who allegedly embezzled Rs 2Cr from the account of the sub-collector, and his wife, a teacher found absconding after the treasury cheating raked up. Last day, Bijilal was terminated from service without issuing a notice.
The high-level meeting convened by the Finance Minister Thomas Issac decided to dismiss Bijilal on Monday evening. All the employees at Sub Treasury Vanchiyur except the treasury officer who informed about the fraudulent act, have been transferred. Finance Minister Thomas Issac said, ‘what Bijilal has done is not a simple offense, but a serious cybercrime’.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala urged to conduct a detailed probe over the treasury scams in the state. He asked to investigate the involvement of finance minister Thomas Issac in the treasury scams that occurred in the state during ongoing LDF reign.
