Kasaragod: On Tuesday, two CPI (M) leaders Udma area secretary K Manikandan and Periya local secretary Balakrishnan were arrested in Periya twin murder case, in which two youth Congress leaders SarathLal and Kripesh were killed. They were arrested over spoiling evidences by the CrimeBrach after summoning them to the office. As per CrimeBrach report Manikandan is learned to have given direction to spoil the evidences which include the spoiling of the dress used by the accused at the time of crime.
A three member team hacked to death the two youth congress leaders, SarathLal (28) son of Sathyanarayanan and Kripesh (19) son of Krishnan at Kalyat on February 17. A group arrived on the car blocked the duo at Kalyat-Achiladukkam road and hacked them mortally and they were died on the way to hospital.
Both youth congress leaders were allegedly faced threat from CPI (M) following the attack on a KSU activist at a nearby College. A CPI (M) local leader was alleged to have acted over the incident. The victims SarathLal and Kripesh were arrested over attacking Pithambaran, a local leader of CPI (M) who was allegedly involved in the attack on KSU worker. SarathLal and Kripesh were reportedly returning after being participated at the festival committee meeting of the nearby temple on the day.
