Thrissur: On Sunday, with Thechikottukavu Ramachandran performed ‘Pooravilambam’, the function at the eve of the festival, Thrissur pooram, known as the pooram of the Pooram, was proclaimed.
Thousands were thronged at the temple premise to have a glimpse of the tusker, the most beloved elephant in Kerala, known for its majestic outlook. As per the direction given by the collector barricades were setup 10m around the tusker and the tusker was paraded one hour at the function, so short a duration comparing to the previous years of its parade.
After the row over tusker Ramachandran sparked controversy, presence of the tusker at Pooravilambam elated the lovers of Pooram and an unprecedented significance was given to the function in this year. Tusker Ramachandran, who entered at temple through west door and ripped open the north door of the temple bearing ‘thidambu’ of Naythalakavilamma, was welcomed with an unparalleled zeal by the throng
