Chandigarh: On Tuesday, 12 college students in their degree attire were arrested for selling ‘Pakodas’ named after Prime Minister Modi nearby the venue of PM’s rally and they were later released after the rally was ended in Chandigarh. Baidev Kumar, the police officer at Sector 34 station reportedly said ‘’we took 10 to 12 students in preventive custody However they were released after the rally’’.
PM was in Chandigarh to address a rally in the constituency for BJP candidate Kirron Kher who is contesting against Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal.
Students were protesting against PM over his statement that a person earns Rs 200 per day by selling Pakodas cannot be considered as unemployed. The students said that their protest was to acknowledge Modi about the difficulties of selling Pakodas by educated people. A woman protester reportedly said” We want to sell Modi Pakodas at the rally, so that he (Modi) knows how great it is to sell Pakodas for the educated youth said ,”
I N an interview to a TV channel Modi said” people earning Rs 200 a day by selling Pakodas cannot be considered unemployed’’ reportedly provoked students to strange protest against PM.
