Srinagar: After June 15 the blessed pleasure of books is reaching out Kashmir other than violence, all India Urdu book fair is commenced and the fair would be lasted nine days. The 23 –year- old event is a great fair Kashmir looking for every year. National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) and Kashmir University is jointly organised the fair for promoting the Urdu language and culture.
The event venue is at the Campus of University of Kashmir which overlooking Dal Lake has a unique attraction for visitors. Fifty one exhibitors across the country are participated in the book fair and eighty six stalls are held for all Variety of books in Urdu language.
The book fair was inaugurated by Jammu Kashmir former Chief Minister Farooq Abdulla and Kashmir University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Talat Ahmad. Farooq Abdulla said to inaugurate the fair, “Today we see homogeneity being forced on our country that has always been known for its diversity. This I believe is one of the diminishing factors of Urdu from our day to day lives.”Many cultural programmes are conducted as a part of the book fair.
