New Delhi: On Friday, the Supreme Court will hear the controversial Ayodhya Ramjamabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case . A five-judge Constitution bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and AbdulNazeer will hear the case. The debut hearing of the case is to be held today since the case referred to a mediation panel headed by former CJI FMI Kalifulla on March 8. The SC entrusted mediation panel to have amicably resolved the age old dispute which broiled the Indian political scenario for decades.
The other members in the panel comprise the spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravishankar, Senior advocate Sriram Panchu, a well known mediator, who had set up India’s first annexed mediation centre in 2005. The mediation panel was demanded to complete the proceedings in 8 weeks and was asked to be held an in-camera proceedings .The apex court directed the mediation panel to have sought an amicable settlement to the contentious dispute in a hearing on February 26.
