With CPI (M) Kerala State Secretary’s son Bineesh Kodiyeri questioned for over 12 hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the investigation agency has decided to look into his illicit transactions and realty business and the NCB set to question him on Bengaluru narcotic case, the left party is facing another crisis in Kerala, the only state where the party assumes power.
Having questioned Bineesh on Wednesday over UAE linked diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case and the recent Bengaluru narcotic case, the ED reportedly has decided to look into the details over his realty business dealings and other financial transactions. The Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB). will reportedly be interrogated Bineesh soon over the Bengaluru drug bust case. The NCB has reportedly sought ED a copy of the statements given by Bineesh to the agency. Bineesh has reportedly made big financial dealing with Anoop Muhammad, the accused in the Bengaluru narcotic case. The ED has reportedly noted a disparity in the statements given by Bineesh over his dealings with two institutions, the Unitech and UAFX solutions, from which the gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh received the commission.
The ruling CPI (M) in the state has already been under strain as Chief Minister Pinrayi Vijayan’s office being drawn in the case with top brass bureaucrats questioned by national investigation agencies and the names of top political figures including state minister being surfaced in the UAE linked diplomatic gold smuggling case. Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary M Shishankar questioned by the national agencies- Enforcement Directorate (ED), National Investigation, Agency (NIA), and Customs (Preventive wing)- by multiple times. The Higher Education Minister KT Jaleel will reportedly be questioned by the investigation agencies soon over the diplomatic ‘Quran parcel’ controversy pertaining to the gold smuggling case.
The ED is investigating whether Bineesh has involved in aiding the accused in the two cases – the gold smuggling case and the drug busting case. The Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB), which is probing the drug case, had reportedly directed the ED to investigate whether Bineesh had financial transactions with one of the Bengaluru drug bust case suspect, Muhammad Anoop. The ED’s key focus is on the investigation is whether there are any illicit fund transactions between the accused Muhammad Anoop and the CPM state secretary’s son. The NCB had also reportedly told the Customs that Anoop Muhammad was a close crony of K. T. Rameez, an accused in the UAE consulate linked gold smuggling case. The Customs had moved the court last week to question Rameez in prison.
Anoop Muhammad had reportedly stated that he had received financial aid from Bineesh Kodiyeri during his interrogation. However, Bineesh agreed that the accused Anoop was known to him since 2013, but he did not have any awareness of the person’s connection with the drug racket. Bineesh said as a friend monetary aide would provide to the drug case accused Anoop Muhammad in financial crisis. However, during interrogation, it has been revealed that the narcotic case accused Anoop Muhammad is a close crony of KT Rameez, the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case accused. Checking the phone call details of Anoop Muhammad, it has been revealed that the state secretary’s son had contacted the narcotic case suspect several times, when the key accused in the gold smuggling case Swapna Suresh was at Bengaluru, from where the NIA arrested her.
Meanwhile, K Firoz, a leader of the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League, a major ally in the opposition UDF, alleged that the name of Bineesh had quoted in a court petition pertaining to the narcotic seizure case. He said that the key accused in the case had named Bineesh as a close crony of the accused. The opposition BJP and Congress have demanded the Chief Minister to conduct a probe into CPI (M) state secretary’s son’s involvement in the grave allegations raised against him.
