Pathanamthitta: P J Joseph, Kerala Congress Working Chairman, demanded to arrest the forest officials responsible for the alleged custody death of Mathayi in Chittar.
PJ Joseph said that the transfer of the eight forest officials cannot be considered as a suitable action against those who acted behind the custodial death. He asked to charge them under the murder case. Kerala Congress workers conducted a protest against over the move at the forest office in Pathanamthitta.
Mathayi was found dead in a well after he was taken into custody by the forest officials. He was taken in to custudy by the forest officials allegedly for smashing a camera installed to have watched the wild animals by the forest deparment. Half an hour after taken him in to custudy, he was found in a well in a farm owned by him. His body was found 10 off his house. The family alleged that Mathayi was tortured to death and body left in the well.
