New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram: Mansoon is likely to make onset in Kerala on June 4, delayed 2days from its normal arrival. On Tuesday, Skymet, private weather forecasting agency predicted below normal rainfall in the region due to the” shadow of El Nino’’.
Shadow of El Nino signals to have a scarcity of rain that would be impacted agriculture and economy in the nation. The progress of Mansoon after its onset cannot be forecasted smooth under the shadow of El Nino. The onset of Mansoon which is normally on June 1 in the area is delayed for 2 days to June 4 owing to the phenomenon El Nino, Jatin Singh, Managing Director Skymet reportedly said.
In last year Mansoon arrived in Kerala on May 29, two days prior to its regular onset date on June 1. Last year it (Mansoon) covered the entire country within 15 days after its onset in Kerala on May 29. This year Mansoon will arrive in the state on June 4 and forecasted to have spread across the country in 45 days.
