Thiruvananthapuram: BJP State President K Surendran alleged that the LDF governemnt was attempting to have subverted the gold smuggling case. He was talking at the 18-day fasting protest of the party starting today, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister in the gold smuggling case. Surendran alleged that the CPI (M) leaders in the state are the epicenter of all the corruption and smuggling activities. All the accused in the gold smuggling case are procuring legal help from a lawyer group close to CPI (M), he alleged.
Flaying CPI (M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan over his BJP-Congress nexus remark, Surendran said, the party secretary is making such allegations in order to divert attention from the gold smuggling case.
Veteran BJP leader and lone MLA of the party in the state assembly, O Rajagopal commenced the fasting protest. Party national Secretary Bhupendra Yadav inaugurated the protest extending for 18 days.
