Thiruvananthapuram: On Monday, a man was arrested over conveying his support to pro-Islamic group like ISIS and Jaish-e-Mohammed on Facebook post. He was arrested after receiving intelligence information. The 47-year-old identified as Askar, a native of Kalathingalpadi nearby Anakkayam in Malappuram district was reported to be arrested by Kerala police. He was arrested over the charges on promoting communal disharmony and hatred.
Askar was learned to be under close vigilance of the cybernetics police wing and he was reportedly active on Facebook since 2016.The investigation revealed that he is propagating messages on communal disharmony through the social media post. His social media posts were comprised posts propagating messages of various pro-Islamic groups. He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Manjeri in Malappuram district and remanded on custody.
“The details of your participation in any of these activities could reveal yourself only through a detailed interrogation.” Police officers reportedly said over Askar’s arrest.
