Kerala is on the edge of social transmission of the COVID 19 and is struggling hard to curb the pandemic. The state for the last 15 days reported three digital numbers in the COVID positive cases. The last day the state reported 211 positive cases, the biggest single day record of COVID cases in the state. Along with the number of COVID infected through contact is alarmingly increasing in the state. Despite the number of patients with source of the pandemic left untraced also augmenting each day. All these facts together indicate to the grave situation of social transmission of the pandemic in the state.
The presence of the pandemic detected in the state on January 30, 2020 for the one student among the three came back from Wuhan, the epicenter of the pandemic in the world. The government then declared a state calamity warn over 3000 contacts of the students hailing from Thrissur, Kasargod and Alapuzha districts and they were asked to go under quarantine.
The ratio of recovery rate and confirmed rate were almost equal even after three months passed after the first case detected in the state. On March 24 Kerala reported 100 cases in the state till then. The next day on March 26, after the nationwide lock down declared on March 25, the state reported the first case of COVID death. Till April 10 the numbers of recovery cases were almost equal to the number of confirmed cases. During April and May the first part of June the number of recovery cases and number of active cases were kept an equal number. Since June 15, the number single day record exuded spike in the state.
Over the last 15 days the total number of COVID positive cases soared from 2912 to 4964 cases.
Now many markets across the state, Chala market in Thiruvananthapuram, Chambakkara market in Kochi , Valiyangadi market in Kozhikode the biggest markets are shut down completely. Malappuram, the district reported highest number of COVID patients where triple lock down declared in Ponnani Taluk. The confirmed COVID positive cases with untraced sources are reporting from almost all districts on each day raising up the apprehension of social transmission.
Chief Minister alerted over the grave situation in the state which is prevailing over the 14 districts. The state is under the apprehension of social transmission of the pandemic and the report over COVID from the 14 districts justifies the fear
