Malappuram: The First Information Report (FIR) on the Karipur flight mishap in which an Air India Flight overshot the runway and fell into 35-feet gorge claiming 18 lives and left scores injured, points out that the overspeed of the flight at the time of landing has led the plane crash.
The FIR prepared at Karipur police station also indicates that recklessness while landing is the reason for the ill-fate of the Air India Express flight. The speed of flight was much higher than desirable speed and the pilot was unable to control it into a halt. The flight landed on the middle part of the runway instead of landing at marked touch-point.
The engine of the Air India Flight is being examined by the experts to know whether there was any glitch to the flight. A comprehensive and detailed examination of the cockpit, the blackbox and voice recorder of the flight has been undergoing in Delhi. DGCA team investigating the crash also collected radar pictures of the aircraft.
A 30-member Special Investigation Team formed by Kerala Police started the investigation into the plane crash.
