Kottayam: Jose K Mani, who is appointed Chairman of Kerala Congress at a state committee meeting convened by him on Sunday, sent a letter to the Election Commission today to assert his stand as the official chairman of the party. Even as PJ Joseph seek legal help to block Jose K Mani’s bid claiming that he has the prerogative to call on party state committee meeting. The election commission will be decided Whether Joseph or Jose K Mani will own Kerala Congress officially.
The stand of CF Thomas, the party MLA is not clear so far over the rift in Kerala Congress. He is to take a stand by the party officially declared by the Election Commission.
Jose K Mani claimed to have possessed the support of 320 members in the 450-member state committee and two MLAs. Joseph asserts to have the strength of three MLAs including CF Thomas. Joseph dismissed the meeting mustered up by Jose K Mani as illegal by violating party rules.
The working Chairman of the party has the prerogative to convene party state committee meeting in the absence of Chairman. The meeting mustered up by others is a sheer violation of the party bylaws.
