Japan is facing an uncommon property problem. As many people leave rural land and migrate to cities for jobs, the houses in the country’s rural areas are left vacant and it has become deserted houses, known as “akiya”.
According to the National Institute of Statistics and Social Security, Japan’s total population will decline from 127 million to 88 million by 2065. If the population is declining at the faster rate, by 2030 there will be only 8.5 million population in the country.
The real estate agents across the country are giving the house for free in online only liablity is to pay tax and agents’ fees. Many houses that left vacant for days is need of repair.
Its not surprising, the average age of Japanese is getting older and older. They get older at the middle age of 46 years. Japan has the World’s oldest population.
And this not only in Japan, the same situation had earlier happened in Italy too. In several rural parts of Italy, empty houses were givenaway for free and there were instances that houses being sold at just 1 Euro. Italy has World’s second oldest population with the median age of 45 years.
As per the prediction, by 2040 around 900 towns and villages in Japan will be disappeared in the map. Japan is less likely to absorb migrant population to settle there. Whereas, Italy had encouraged the migrants to settle down there.
