Kerala decided to pull back lockdown on Sundays and relaxed lockdown norms in the state when some other states in the country extended lockdown or declared complete lock down in some of the districts to fight the highly contagious deadly pandemic, COVID 19. The state reported 195 COVID positive cases , the biggest ever recorded number of single day in last 24 hours and the same day government announced removal of complete lock down in the state. The Pandemic infected five lakh people in the country with number of fresh cases in 24 hours crossed 18,000 on the day.
The states Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and West Bengal extended lock down till July 31 and Tamil Nadu shut down some of the worst affected districts.Maharashtra, Punjab, Utter Pradesh and Telangana extended lock down till the end of June. Assam imposed lock down in Kamrup in which one of the biggest city in the country Guhawathi include.
Even as Kerala announced the decision in the back drop of COVID infected cases in the state shows an alarming spike with state crossed three digital numbers for last eight consecutive days. Over the last two days the number of infected crossed the mark of 150. Besides the number of infected through contact is shown swell. Kerala, which is a rural state with barely one metro city, which comes 75th position among the cities in the country in population and space aspects. while considering the low rate of urbanization, the number of COVID cases in our state is frightening.
