Kolkata: Abijit Banerjiee, Indian born US citizen from Kolkata won Nobel prize for economics for 2019. Abijit, the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at Massachusetts University shred the prestigious prize with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer.
Banerjiee, the co-founder of Abdul Latheef Jameel Poverty action responded over the prize that it’s a prize for ‘’an entire movement to rid the world of poverty’’.
Abijit on Monday responded that ‘Indian economy is on Shanky ground after witnessing the present the growth data. Just cannot be sure about revival of economy in near future’.
He said that the hope of revival Indian economy over the last five years also lost and ‘that assurance is gone’ now.
