Here is the World’s first completely 3D printed e-motorcycle, the “NERA”. NOWLAB and BigRep, 3D printer manufacturer have joined hands to develop the world’s first completely 3D printed e-motorcycle. The name “NERA” is derived from the slogan “NEW ERA” .
Termed as “World’s first” by the company, NERA is made from additive manufacturing. All parts of the e-motorbike excluding the electrical components have been printed in 3D. The making of tyres, rims, frame, bodywork and suspension of the NERA have been done by 3D print technology.
“The NERA combines several innovations developed by NOWLAB, such as the airless tyre, functional integration and embedded sensor technology. This bike and our other prototypes push the limits of engineering creativity and will reshape AM technology as we know it”. said Daniel Buning, Co-Founder and Managing Director of NOWLAB
Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) process is the material used in the 3D print technology, which feeds a continuous filament of thermoplastic material through a moving, heated printer extruder head.
The vehicle was designed by Marco Mattia Cristofori and Maximilian Sedlak from BigRep’s innovation lab. BigRep is slated as the first creator to use 3D printed technology in motorcycle production. The fact is that, the completely 3D printed motorcycle is not yet for sale but it can say that NERA is ready for production.
