Thiruvananthapuram: Kadavoor Sivadasan, Congress leader and former Minister passed away at a private hospital at here at 5.30 am on today. He was 67. He died due to age related ailments. He was survived by wife Vijayamma and children Mini and Shaji Sivadasan. The body is kept at DCC office at Kollam from 10am to pay homage for people and from there the body will be brought to his residence at Anandavalleswaram. Funeral will take place reportedly at Mulankadakam crematorium at around 4pm.
His political entry started too early since his student days and he was the president of Progressive Students Alliance (PSA) in 1958. He was selected to Kerala assembly as RSP candidate in 1980 and in the following years in 1991, 1996 and 2001 he was contested under Indian National Congress.
Mr Sivadasan was the labor minister for a short period from March to December in 1981 and was served as exercise minister in K Karunakaran ministry from 1982 to 87. He handled the forest and wild life portfolio (from 1995 April 20 May 9 1996) in AK Antony ministry in 1994 and Sivadasan wielded important portfolios like power (from May 26 2001 to February 11)health, and family welfare (from February 11 to August 29 in 2004) in Antony ministry.
