Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram Range DIG Sanjay Kumar will be leading the investigation into cyber attack on women journalists allegedly by netizens having allegiance to the ruling CPI(M). The probe team consists of officials from Cyber Cell, Cyber Dome and the Hi-Tech Cell.
DGP Loknath Behra has issued an order directing the state government to conduct a precise investigation to nab the offenders. Social media campaigns associated with Covid-19 have also been ordered to be investigated.
During the press conference held by the Chief Minister in the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister had responded fiercely to the media persons who asked questions about the recent controversial gold smuggling. The journalists who raised criticisms and questions against the government have been facing severe cyberbullying from time to time. Even the family members of them are also affected.
The Kerala Journalists Union had lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister and the DGP demanding strict action against the ongoing cyber attacks on journalists.
