Kozhikode/Malappuram: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed restrictions over the landing of large aircraft at Karipur International Airport. The bid has taken on the ground of the unsafe status of the Airport.
The large Aircraft of Qatar Air Airways which have been granted permission to land Karipur Airport the other day was banned after the DGCA took the decision to ban large air crafts.
As per the ban a Saudi Airlines flight from Jeddah to Karipur has been diverted to Nedumbasseri airport. The jumbo services have been revoked temporarily.
An Air India Flight skidded off the tabletop runway and fell into the gorge by splitting into two parts killing 18 and scores left injured in Karipur Airport at 7.30 pm on August 7.
