Panaji: Amid crisis in Karnataka, another turmoil is reportedly brewed in Goa as ten (10) Congress MLAs submitted resignation to the speaker. The ten MLAs out of the 15 who submitted resignation openly expressed intention to join BJP.
The MLAs led by Chandra Kanth kavalkkar, the opposition leader in assembly joined BJP. Kavalkkar reportedly to be appointed as Deputy Chief Minister. The MLAs will reportedly meet BJP high command in Panaji on Thursday. Chief Minister Pramod Savanth and Deputy Speaker in the assembly Michael Lombo were reported to have been with the MLAs when they reached at the assembly complex.
Now BJP has 27 members in the 40-member Goa assembly earlier it was 17. The 15- member Congress MLAs now reduced to 5.The 40-member assembly constitute 3 independent MLAs , 3 MLAs of Goa forward block, one from Maharashtrawadi Gamantak party and 1 NCP MLA.
