The special NIA court remanded Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair, the accused over gold smuggling case in custody for 10 days. The accused duo will have been shifted to the COVID Centre today. The NIA set to continue the procedures after the accused tested negative to the pandemic.

The state reported 435 COVID positive cases with single day tally crossing 400 for three consequtive days . 206 people infected the pandemic through contact. 127 people reached back from abroad and 87 people came back from other state.
The Customs reportedly received digital evidence against Shiv Shankar, IT Secretary and former Chief Secretary to the chief minister over his alleged involvement in the gold smuggling scam. The Customs informed Shiv Shankar to have interfered in opening the bag reached as diplomatic baggage at the Thiruvananthapuram airport.

Swapana was booked under UAPA, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act by NIA after the National Investigation agency take over the case. The investigation agency traced the close contact of Swapna and travel history of Sandeep which led to the accused duo in Benguluru.

Swapna was reportedly detained at a hotel in Korangapara in BTM layout area while Sandeep was detained at house he was staying in Korangapara. Banglore Mirror reports citing NIA sources. NIA was closely watching her route after taking over the case and Swapna released the video clips after reaching Benguluru.
