Banglore: The remark made by BJP MP Anant Kumar hails from Karnataka, sparked controversy when he called BSNL employees’ traitors’ on Tuesday. He said that the 88,000 employees at the public carrier system would be terminated.
He called 88,0000 BSNL employees ‘traitors’ who are not helping to revamp the plagued status of the public carrier system. He said that privatization is the only solution to resolve the crisis in BSNL and once that has implemented, ”the employees will be fired”. Anant Kumar said, BSNL is a system filled with traitors, and reinforced the ‘word traitors’, by saying ”I am using accurate words to describe them”.
The BJP MP went on to describe the meaning of the word, ‘traitor’ that it indicates, ”he who betrays someone or something, such as a friend, cause, or principle.”
He accused BSNL employees as ‘lazy and incompetent’ and accused them to be responsible for the current crisis of the state carrier. He alleged that the employees are provided with money and infrastructure and people require services, yet, they(the employees) are reluctant to do work. He said though the Prime Minister talks over digital media, providing funds and technology to the public carrier, the employees, ”they are not willing to work”.
The remark made by BJP MP sparked controversy when it reads in connection with the Central government issued a statement last year that BSNL will not be privatized and the government offered 29,000Cr to revive the public sector.
