The BCCI acting president CK Khanna proposes the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to lend support to the families of jawans who sacrificied their lives for the sake of the country.
On Sunday, Board of Cricket Council of India(BCCI) acting president wrote to CoA Chief Vinod Rai to sanction Rs.5 crores for the families of the soldiers.
“We are saddened and join our fellow Indian citizens in condemning the dastardly Pulwama Terror attack. Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. I request the Committee of Administrators that BCCI should contribute at least Rs 5 crore through the appropriate government agencies to the families of the martyred soldiers,” Mr.CK Khanna wrote in his letter to the CoA.
Khanna also said that he is going to request to the all state associations and IPL franchise to make contributions to the families of jawans and to observe 2-minutes silence as a mark of respect to the slain soldiers during their first IPL matches.
On Saturday, Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha contributed their entire Irani Cup prize money for the families of the martyrs. Meanwhile, cricketer Shikhar Dhawan will donate money to the families of the CRPF jawans. He took to twitter to and posted an emotional video and requested all Indians to join together and support the families of the soldiers.
Cricketer Virendra Sehwag offered to take care of the education of the children of the martyred soldiers.
Cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar,VVS Laxman, Suresh Raina, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Kaif and Rohit Sharma strongly condemned the attack and extended their condolences to the families of martyred soldiers.
