Anantnag: Three terrorists including Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander were reportedly killed in an encounter in Anantnag district in South Kashmir.
A joint team of police, CRPF and Army’s Rashtriya Rifles conducted a search operation in the area on Monday morning.
The searching team surrounded the militants who were hiding and the terrorists started firing at the officers. The officers retaliated to have sparked an encounter in which three Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists were killed.
Police officers said the area is now terrorist –free with the death of Masood as he was the last surviving terrorist in Anantnag.
Around 116 militants were killed in the district in the year and of the six operational commanders of the terrorist outfits.
